Then we took the metro down to the Coliseum. It literally towers over you as you exit the metro station. Once we had all arrived and taken a few pictures Dr. Call told us to find some lunch and meet him back at the Triumph Arch next to the Coliseum. We found a small Bar that sold the most delicious panini. We found a small piazza with a fountain and too many pigeons for my liking. It was pretty fun.We came back to the Coliseum and went inside. We toured the halls and then say the inside. It was interesting to see where acient Romans would have stood watching the fights. We learned that the battles and fights would happen everyday and people would come as part of their daily routine. It was a very impressive building and it is amazing that something so large could be constructed with the resources available at the time.
Afterward we walked to the Forum and toured the grounds of the ruins. Mostly it was just a really hot day, but we did get to go inside the ancient Senatewhere debates would have taken place. The building was so large and the decoration was amazing. The entire floor was a mosaic. There was a sort of scaffolding walk way to keep people from ruining the floor. There was evidence that the walls would have been covered top to bottom with marble.
After the forum we split up again. Three of us went down the street to see the marketplace ruins and the pillar next to it. Then we went back to the hotel
After dinner alot of the girls decided to go out, but I was too tired so I stayed and walked around the neighborhood with two other girls. We found some small grocery stores, the Famacia, and the ATM near us. It didn’t take long before we headed back to hotel and got ready for bed.
