To anyone who still follows this blog, thank you and I'm sorry I haven't been keeping it up. Senior year is over, I have my degree and I am also married now. Cool :D

This year I am starting my first official teaching job at a Jr. High in the Salt Lake City area and I admit that I'm pretty nervous.
I will keep making art and I will try to post here more often.

I did end up having a final show and it turned out beautifully. I was very proud of it and I recieved lots of positive feedback about it :) I'll try to add some of my work from that show here over the next few months.
keep cool this summer!

Life Happens, and a rant

So, this post will have 2 things: an update on what's happening with me and also a rant. If you are not interested in the rant don't read past the dividing line.

SO! IT's been 6 months. Hello friends!
Well- what you've missed is the end of a semester, finals, moving out of my apartment, driving back to NM, me working all summer, and then me moving back into my apartment and school starting again.
Now it is Senior year #3, and gratefully it is also the last. School is never not crazy though. Which I don't understand.
News: Jason and I are engaged. My lovely friend Maddie took our pictures and the joyous occasion will happen in May :)
School is chugging along, and I'm getting dragged along in the back. Seriously- it is torture trying to make myself do homework every week. The struggle IS REAL. Senioritis IS REAL!  I don't know how I've made it through 2 other senior years before this one with out cracking up. It's a miracle.

Well, those are the highlights of what has been going on with me. I still haven't been taking many pictures, however since I plan to do a senior show next semester and I don't have a body of work yet- photos will be happening :) soon! Love you all!

Winter

Well, I am obviously not very good at blogging consistently. Although to be fair - school is crazy busy. Last semester I was taking 17 credit hours in 6 classes. It was a lot. And honestly 90% of my time was dedicated to not drowning in homework. In fact I was unable to make any time for taking pictures.

This semester I am taking 16 credit hours, and am working but it's not as bad as last semester somehow. During the most recent three day weekend I was able to take a trip out to the Bonneville Salt Flats near the Utah/Nevada border. We left at 5 in the morning so we could be there for sunrise. It was beautiful and also very cold. Anyway take a gander:

Real Life

So I've been back in America for several months at this point, and real life picked back up exactly where it left off. This summer I worked pretty hard to make up for lost time and money and things went pretty well. I got to pick up some new skills. I learned how to use a program for design parts. The kind of parts you use to build stuff etc. I got to practice by designing a cap for a big long pencil looking thing made of metal and they wanted to protect the tip.

Anyway yeah so that was the summer. Now I've been back at school for 2 months and now there are are only 6 more weeks of classes, one week for finals, and then it's Christmas. Crazy huh? School has been ridiculously busy. So that's why I haven't really posted anything. And even though I've done some fun stuff, there hasn't been anything big or super exciting to report. I hope you all are well and I'll post again eventually. :)

The Last Days

You know you truly love something when even seeing a stupid buzzfeed list of the "39 best things about study abroad in italy" makes you tear up because you know you'll be leaving soon. This happened the other day because Shannon....I mean Shauna ;) and Rebeca posted it.

Anyway, my time here is quickly dwindling and I will be on a plane back to the US in 2 short days. I have really loved it here with my family and all my new friends. Hopefully, this group will be better at meeting up than my other group. We have really had so much fun together.

But until I leave I will make Italia Appreciation Posts.

These flowers smell so good. They are all over town, but especially in our back garden they are so pretty and smell so great :)

Tigre, our 19 year old cat likes to talk to you to remind you she is there and that you need to feed her. Otherwise she will not stop talking.
Picture
Lulu is our dog and she is mostly deaf and so is easily startled. However she is cute and knows it so she whines a lot during dinner to try and get scraps. It doesn't work.

We have 2 turtles as well that wander the back garden. I don't know their names but they can be found out and about from time to time

San Galgano

So San Galgano was the first Gothic style church in Tuscany and it was used pretty regularly, then it fell into disuse for some reason I don't really know and at one point there was a storm and the tower fell down making the roof cave in and then it was abandoned. Now people can come see it and a small hermitage of  Saint Galgano very close to it where there is the real life sword in the stone.

We were able to go visit  the church because some friends of our said they would be willing to take us. It was a really fantastic day and we had a lot of fun. The countryside where this church is tucked away is truly beautiful and I'll be sorry to leave Tuscany in a week.

San Gimignano, or The Day I Ate Gelato

So most of the group left for Venice, and since I've already been and it wasn't my favorite place I decided to stay close to Siena. Chris, Rebeca, and I spend yesterday afternoon in San Gimignano where they have the World Champ gelato shop. I am not ashamed to say that I had gelato 4 times that day. It is my new record. 9 flavors/scoops in one day. I skipped lunch and went running to try and compensate for all the sugar hahaha.

It rained for a bit but it actually turned out to be a good thing because it made the blisteringly hot day into a relatively decent day .
