Side note: I almost started outright crying over my pizza today. That's how bad I am hahaha even my favorite pizza can set me off.
You know you truly love something when even seeing a stupid buzzfeed list of the "39 best things about study abroad in italy" makes you tear up because you know you'll be leaving soon. This happened the other day because Shannon....I mean Shauna ;) and Rebeca posted it.
Anyway, my time here is quickly dwindling and I will be on a plane back to the US in 2 short days. I have really loved it here with my family and all my new friends. Hopefully, this group will be better at meeting up than my other group. We have really had so much fun together. But until I leave I will make Italia Appreciation Posts. So this weekend I went to St. George with a lot of the Art Ed. people for a conference where there were workshops to teach us how to be more awesome teachers. It was really good, but all of my favorite parts happened outside of the classes. We were able to do some hiking/rock climbing, hot tubbing, and mostly just goofing around.
Nothing lights my imagination on fire quite like photography does. Lately I've been spending enormous amounts of time looking at photography on pinterest, tumblr, and facbook to find inspiration. This is just a post to show some of the things that have caught my attention lately. These types of conceptual photography have really appealed to me because of how much time I spend day dreaming. They have this dreamy or surreal quality that I find really intriguing because I want to take photos that can somehow show this idea. Everyone has daydreams and fantasizes about something, and I've been trying to figure out how to portray those sorts of themes. Now I just need to find a model to help me out. All my best ones have moved away so now I'm up a river of ideas with out a paddle. Anyway keep an eye out and with any luck I will have some of my own photos to share again.
So The semester is almost over and I am so excited to get back to New Mexico. But let me me catch you up and tell a few stories.
So a story from today: Brianne and I spent the weekend in Salt Lake babysitting her little cousins and staying in this sweet house up in a fancy shmancy neighborhood. Anyway, this morning we decided to enjoy the hot tub. When we were finished, we got out put the cover back on it and went to open the door. It would not budge. We were locked out. We ran through the snow in our barefeet and wet swimsuits (This is DECEMBER remember) to a different back door: also locked. The we ran through more snow to the front door: also locked. Just when we were about to give up and head to a neighbors we saw that one of the garage doors was opened and we were saved. Pretty great luck we have eh? Other things of note.... Brianne and I ran a 5K race in Park City in October. It was my first race ever, and first 5k ever but it went really well. I got 35th overall and 5th in my age division, with an average pace of 9:30. Not too shabby. Also I did add the second major in Italian in case I didn't mention that before. Also also I am going back to Italy for an internship in the spring. It's for 7 weeks and I am hoping to get a spot in museum work but that is still undecided. Um, I went on a blind date set up by my cousin for me, and the date itself was lovely. It was my first date in nine months so I wasn't sure how it would go. The guy was great really nice and easy to talk to. We had a pretty good time. Unfortunately he looked surprisingly similar to my ex boyfirend so that kinda put a damper on it on my end. It was great in every other respect so who knows. If he ever asked me out again I would say yes I think, but who knows whether that will even happen. Also also also I just signed up for a second TA job so during winter semester I will be working two jobs to help me pay for Italy and the aftermath which is called being broke. So yeah those are some of the main highlights from this semester. From Park City, this is what it looked like on the day of our run :D So I haven't been up to anything too exciting. I did finish my petition to add a second major though. However, I have to wait to hear back, so I have no idea how that is going.
Otherwise I was feeling nostalgic about Siena, so I decided to do a little piece about the city and it's centerpiece: Il Campo So recently I took a weekend trip up to the great state of Colorado to visit my uncle and a cousin and I had a lot of fun with them. Well on the ride home I took this lovely little photo. This is pretty close to Abiquiu Lake. About 40 minutes from my house.
